Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
The question has been dealt with:
a) It is valid to marry believing Christian and Jewish women, because their doctrinal errors existed at the time the Qur’an was revealed and permission to marry them given;
b) It is generally unadvisable, and normally highly sinful, especially when one cannot be genuinely sure that it will not affect one’s own religious practice and that of one’s children.
This is the position of the Hanafi school of fiqh. To understand the soundness of the Sunni schools of law, read the articles by Shaykh Nuh Keller and Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad at www.masud.co.uk

Jazak Allah khayr.

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Knowledge is only through study." While some knowledge can be gained from reading or casually listening to lectures, the best means to gain knowledge is through finding a qualified teacher and then setting up a systematic program of learning. Picking up a book or reading an article and trying to figure things out on our own is no substitute for learning from someone who has a direct link to our living tradition.
